Connected by RodIn the latest issue of R2 magazine, there's news of CD releases from three of Rod's past collaborators.
Michael Chapman - the man who gave Rod his first post-JTL job - is planning a short tour with his new album "Solo Acoustic Vol 11" (sadly available only in vinyl and download formats).
Ralph McTell has recorded an album with Wizz Jones, called About Time. Ralph distracted Rod from that first job with Michael in order to re-record Streets of London (as well as In the Bleak Midwinter, with Bert Jansch). Rod later played on Ralph's album Right Side Up (aka Weather the Storm). He also played on Wizz Jones' album Happiness Was Free.
It's four or five years since I've seen Michael Chapman play, and it was worth every penny. I last saw Wizz earlier this year. He is a guest at my local folk club every couple of years, and is someone I always make the effort to see.
I haven't seen Ralph in years, mainly because he plays a few big venues rather than lots of small local ones which I stand a better chance of reaching.
Needless to say, my Wants list has just grown. Five months until Christmas....
