Lindisfarne MKII Farewell Gig 13th March 1975 Poster

Anyone see this gig?

brian

The tour was due to finish at the end of Feb , the band announced the split halfway through the tour with the last date  being the City Hall and suddenly there was this demand for extra dates, I don't know how many added gigs there was in the end. I believe Alan was going solo and Paul Nichols had secured the drum gig with WidowMaker(Ariel Bender, Steve Ellis etc) I was at the City Hall gig I believe it was about the 28th Feb and the place was packed it was pretty good gig and during the encore Ray Laidlaw and Alan White from Yes joined the band onstage. I have no recollection of who the support was but hope this is of help

Thanks for the info,i've been looking at some old posters and also saw a date for Lindisfarne at the Odeon Newcastle, which at the time was having bands on. Floyd,ELP and Purple to name a few. Before the cinema was converted into a multiplex. The band America played after the conversion, and were reported to have said "We've never played to a wall before" As the band faced a wall with the audience in the balcony. Maybe Roger Waters took note.  Laughing

I went to the odeon gig, it was strange to see Lindisfarne play there, it was  a fairly subdued audience for quite a long time before they warmed up. It was not the right sort of venue for Lindisfarne in my opinion especially in Newcastle, but I believe the City Hall also had a gig on that night. The support act was a band called Wally, they were ok I think their debut album was produced by Rick Wakeman, I don't know if they did a second album

I think it might have been Hutch ( John Hutchison) and It's Easy as support on the City Hall gig
