Misheard Lyrics

I was listening to the 'Lindisfarne Live' CD yesterday and I finally heard the words that Jacka sings on 'We Can Swing Together' clearly. He changes the lyrics from 'some were smoking roll your own' to 'some were smoking rolled up tabs'.  For years, when I only had the original vinyl LP I was sure he sang 'rolled up tops' and I hadn't a clue what that meant (D'Oh!)

It made me think about other misheard Lindisfarne lyrics. On 'City Song' I always thought Alan sang 'In your streets, the girls have forgotten why they're there' and it was many many years later I heard the words correctly - not 'girls' but 'ghosts', thus completely changing the meaning of the song for me.

Any others?
Kirsty

I've just given it a listen - he definitely says 'polis' instead of 'copper' (I presume as they were in Scotland) but I haven't a clue what he says in the next line....

That was hysterical Craig.  I must admit I also thought those were the lyrics to the Shania Twain song.... I need to get my ears (and my mind) washed out!!
