Rab Noakes

Word has it, friend of Lindisfarne, Rab Noakes is performing a session on Radio 2's Celtic Connections, 7.00pm tomorrow night.

He did.

I caught only a few minutes of it as I was driving to my local folk club. I should have stuck to the radio instead of subjecting myself to a ghastly experience (that may offend fans of the Spikedrivers, but we're all entitled to an opinion).

I've been giving the remastered, repackaged, bonus tracked Red Pump Special a good listen. I don't usually detect the subtleties of remastering, but this CD has a really good sound. The sleeve notes are an interesting read, too. I hadn't realised that the album was largely recorded live in the studio.

The notes also say that Neon (Rab's label) are considering doing a remastered re-release of Never Too Late. So watch this space.

The Spikedrivers blues trio? Aww.. I love 'em.

Well, there you go. As i said, each to there own. Billed as a blues trio indeed but more of avaudeville act. I couldn't take more than 20 mins. But, they had a big turnout so good luck to them.
