The Rod Clements gig at the Tyneside Cinema

Hi.  Long time reader of this forum, finally decided to sign up and post something.

My wife was shopping up in Newcastle on Friday.  For once she actually came home with something worthwhile....2 tickets for the Rod Clements gig on Wednesday night.  It's years since I've seen any of the Lindisfarne lads play live, and I am really looking forward to it.

I know this gig is a cd launch and gig rolled in to one, but does anyone know how the night will actually pan out?  What I mean there something else going on to mark the release of the new cd?  It would be nice to see some of the old Lindisfarne lads there.  I've seen Ray Jackson on TV a few times lately, I think he might still live in Newcastle.

Should be a great night.

Welcome aboard, thirskcowboy.

I'll be there on Wednesday night, and I know several others from this forum will be too.  As for Ray Jackson....I'm sure he wont mind me saying that he actually lives in Oxfordshire, not Newcastle.  Whether or not he will be at Rod's CD launch though is another matter completely, and I honestly wouldn't have a clue.

Rod Clements and Ian Thomson will be there though, I do know that much Smile

I do know that there will be a Q&A session with Rod during the evening.

I believe Rod's very busy at the moment, but if he sees this he may just respond.

Hi Andy, glad to hear you & Mrs Thirskcowboy will be at the Tyneside Cinema on Wednesday. How it will pan out (I hope): doors open 6.10 pm. At 6.30 Ian and I play a 45 minute set. After that I'll be in conversation with Chris Phipps on stage, & then open to questions from the floor. Show wraps up at 7.45 after which there will be plenty of opportunity to mingle, socialise, have a drink and buy CDs! I think you'll spot a few familiar faces.
See you there.

I really wish I could have been there, but it's just not possible.  Hope it all goes well and I'll definitely be purchasing the CD.

As for seeing Rod live, I'll just have to wait until Rod and Ian visit South Wales later in the year. Looking forward to that immensely.

I'll be there!

Looking forward to it!

Well, what a brilliant show. A great choice of songs spanning the entire timeline of the album, followed by an insightful Q&A that was disappointing only in that you wish it could have gone on a bit longer.

I'll write a review of the album once I've given it a few listens, but it'll be very effusive indeed.

Working from memory (can anyone fill gaps) but these are the songs I recall from last night.

Coming Home To You
Train in E Major
Ghost in Blue Suede Shoes
Unmarked Car
This Guitar Never Lies
Meet Me on the Corner
Don't Ask Me
Sundown Station
Freedom Square

Hi Craig, nice to see you on Wednesday, & glad you enjoyed the gig. You missed one song off the list - Can't Do Right For Doing Wrong. Maybe you didn't recognise it Wink

It was nice to see so many old friends, and the public at large turn out to support Rod's CD launch.

Here's Rod with an old chum....
