Excellent Sam.  Any idea which paper it was from.  I've got the obituary from the Independent which I'll dig out, scan and try to post.  Has anyone got any from other papers?

Thanks for posting it Sam.  A fascinating piece, made all the more interesting by the number of errors it contains.  Still, it was a national newspaper acknowledging Alan, which can't be bad.

The source of this obituary has long puzzled me. I have the same cutting, which must have been given to me as I was an Independent reader at the time and have that cutting clearly identifiable. It was obviously one of the other broadsheets, and by guessing at who may have given it to me, I think I can whittle it down to either the Telegraph or Guardian (my friends and family cover a broad base). I'd be pleased to know Sam's mum's reply.

I don't have any other obit cuttings, but there were bound to be other reports. I  have a feeling Reinhard showed some on the official site a while back??

I was at Alan's funeral and, if it doesn't sound crass, it was a great send off.
Gary Caverhill produced a superb booklet (I can't think of a better description) that was given out to people who attended. It had a picture of Alan on the front taken from what looks like a shoot for Statues and Liberties and it had the order of service including readings of Alans poetry that were given, and other prose. Clear White light was in there along with some poetry taken from his book.
It was beautifully produced and was a fitting tribute to the man.
Would it be in poor taste for me to upload it?
I don't class it as memorabilia but a nice memorial.
Not the sort of thing you say often but I really enjoyed his funeral.

This is the Times obit.
I have The Guardian somewhere as well and I don't think it's the one above. I'll see if I can dig it out...

Here's The Guardian obit. I found it stuck in a diary. The image can be enlarged by clicking on it.
